Pages at times underperform and not because the design is wrong. They’re underperforming because nobody on the page knows who they’re talking to. Good copy is the work of knowing your reader so well that what you write feels like it was written for them.
Copy is the part of marketing everyone thinks they can do until they actually have to sit down and do it. I write copy that sells without sounding like it’s selling, because the work isn’t in the clever line, it’s in the research underneath it. Who is this person, what do they want, what are they afraid of, what do they not believe yet. Get those right and the words almost write themselves. Get them wrong and no headline framework saves you.
What copy that actually moves people looks like
Copy work starts with research, not writing. Before I draft a single headline, I’m reading your sales calls, your support tickets, your reviews, and your competitors’ reviews. I want the specific language your customer uses, the specific objections they raise, and the specific reason they pick somebody else when they shouldn’t. Every line I write after that lands on something real..
Then I write, and edit hard. AI speeds up the research and the first-draft scaffolding, but it doesn’t write the copy that ships. The voice has to be yours, the rhythm has to feel human, and the offer has to be specific enough to be believable. Whether it’s a landing page, an email sequence, a long-form sales page, or a VSL script, the rules are the same. Know the reader, earn the click, deliver the goods.
